COVID-19 Updates: California Experiences One of the Highest Death Totals Since the Start of the Pandemic.

COVID-19 updates: The holiday season has increased the coronavirus’s spread, with many traveling to see their loved ones and attending events. Last week, California witnessed some of its highest COVID death totals, which has caused lots of worries.

COVID-19 updates

According to Deadline, Governor Newsom, on Wednesday, announced that the state, in the past 24 hours, has experienced 361 Covid-related deaths over the past 24 hours. Which isn’t up to the 379 deaths on December 16th. And relating to the state’s ICU capacity, which was 2.5% on Monday, has now dropped to 1.1%

Things are really heating up in California as they’ve become the first state in the US to surpass 2 million COVID-19 cases. Mercurynews says it took the state nine months to get to 1 million cases, but just six weeks to get another 1 million.

“We have to be careful of what we’re walking into in the next few days, with Christmas and New Year’s,” Governor Newsom said. “We have experienced this surge on top of a surge from Thanksgiving.”

“At peril will be a surge, on top of a surge on top of a surge unless we are careful about or travel plans this holiday and our proximity to those from other households.”

We warned further that if Californians don’t practice social distancing and isolation, that they risk a new peak in new cases “in the middle and latter part of January and February.”
