Why the COVID-19 Pandemic Will Forever Be a Part of History

There’s no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic will remain in the sands of time long after we’re gone. With how sudden it came and its impacts on different sectors, there’s no doubt that this virus will be one to remember. Let’s look at some impacts the COVID-19 made that will cement its place forever in history.

The Covid-19 Pandemic Economic Disruption

covid-19 pandemic

Studies show that the COVID-19 was particularly damaging for small businesses in the united states. There were significant declines in leisure and hospitality, as well as the education and health sectors.

The pandemic made the majority of companies opt for the remote working system.  According to a survey, “88% of business organizations all over the world mandated or encouraged all their employees to work from home as the virus started to spread at rapid rates. Furthermore, about 97% of the organizations immediately canceled all work-related travel.”

Remote work has already been happening, but not at this level, which is why the COVID-19 will be memorable because it brought a change to the economy and the way we work.

WHO says, “tens of millions of people are at risk of falling into extreme poverty, while the number of undernourished people, currently estimated at nearly 132 million, could increase by up to  690 million by the end of the year.”

The Cases and Deaths

The COVID-19 brought massive unrest to everyone, which was one reason why drastic steps had to be taken. According to the CDC, the total cases in the US are about 13 million people, while the death count is about 270,000

It won’t be easy to easily forget such a tragedy because we’re only humans. Seeing how doctors spent hours on end on testing sites and hospitals trying to fight COVID is not the most pleasant sight.

The Covid-19 Pandemic Lockdown

To curb the spread of the COVID-19, lockdown measures were put in place. This affected many social and economic activities. Malls, shops, cinemas, sports and event centers, places of worship, etc., to be shut down pending the reduction in COVID-19 cases. It’s something we had never seen before, and it ought to be remembered.
